Five tips from the photographer - how to take a good picture
Keep your camera handy – the best photo opportunities arise when you least expect it.
Try and keep the horizon level – especially at sea where it would seem rather odd that a ship is sailing uphill.
Avoid too much contrast – a camera will have difficulty in recreating extreme light and dark shadows correctly. Even lighting is often the best.
Simple themes are often best. If you place too many elements in the photo it can become confusing and steal the attention away from the actual photo object.
Close in and gain permission – if you want people to appear in your photos it is common courtesy to ask permission before taking pictures. This is a general rule, but especially one you should adhere to when on holiday where you meet new people and different cultures.
